Jin-Theng Craven headshot

My name is Jin-Theng Craven and I am a Leeds-based journalist, filmmaker and arts producer.  But that wasn’t always my story.

I originally worked in the City, with a career in banking and  I’m often asked what prompted such a sea-change.  My answer?  A compulsion to tell the untold stories: those of ordinary people with extraordinary lives.  To introduce the audience to undiscovered topics and offer fresh perspectives on familiar ones.

That is the reason I founded Second Avenue Productions. Working closely with clients and subjects, I create high-quality, compelling documentaries in collaboration with colleagues in the creative community.

Why work with me?

Artist Ahmad Zakii Anwar headshot

I created Second Avenue Productions as a creative hub, producing high-impact documentary films that help businesses, artists, charities, and organizations tell meaningful stories and connect with their audiences.

As a documentary filmmaker and producer, I work closely with clients and collaborators to create compelling stories with a strong focus on quality and authenticity.

Whether you are looking for a documentary filmmaker, documentary producer, or creative collaborator, I would love to discuss how we can bring your story to life.

What others say

Betty Yao MBE

Asia House has partnered Jin Craven on a number of projects – from Connecting Culture/ Singapore Uncovered Festivals to a charity Jazz Concert.
Jin Craven was a great delight to work with, a true professional and a perfectionist in all that she does. But above all, it was great fun working with her and I’ve learned a lot from her abundant knowledge and experience.

I worked with Jin on ‘Edge of Obedience’ as her Story Consultant and then Film Editor. Jin generates great ideas bringing the world of South East Asia to the West through fascinating characters. She is a marathon runner who can keep up momentum on her film projects over long periods of time with great concentration. Above all, I would say she has exemplary organisational skills. If you want a producer in SE Asia, or anywhere else, I would recommend Jin. Her sunny disposition and can-do attitude make her a great colleague and an inspiration to any team.

I first met Jin when I was looking for a producer for my debut feature film, Tell Me About It.

Jin became the mentor I truly needed. She not only shared industry insights that helped develop the film, but also offered guidance that had a lasting impact on my growth as a filmmaker.

Her feedback on both my script and production process was constructive and honest, delivered in an encouraging way to gave me the confidence I needed to push forward. I’m deeply grateful for her support during such a pivotal time in my career
